Dr hab. Piotr Merks, MPharm, MPharmS, is Director of the Scientific Department of the European Pharmacists Association (EPA) and President of the Polish Pharmacy Trade Union (ZZPF). 

He is a pharmacist and academic with over 20 years of professional experience in Poland and the United Kingdom. His expertise covers clinical and community pharmacy, pharmaceutical care, vaccination services, medication safety, digital health, artificial intelligence and patient communication.

He has led and contributed to numerous national and international research and implementation projects aimed at expanding pharmacists’ clinical roles and improving patient safety. In 2024, he was awarded the Medal of the Polish Ministry of Health for his contribution to healthcare.

He is also actively involved in scientific, professional and educational initiatives shaping the future of pharmacy practice.
